Let MV Kalo take you on the experience of a lifetime, whale watching/swimming in the beautiful waters of the Vava'u Islands, Tonga.
Vava'u is the third most northern group of Islands in the Kingdom of Tonga, and hosts 42 limestone islands filled with marine life, snorkel sites, white sandy beaches and is home to the South Pacific Humpback Whale. Visit the wonders of The Kingdom of Tonga and enjoy a fabulous nature and culture immersed holiday, a peaceful paradise in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean. Tonga is also one of the few places on the globe where not only can you watch, but also swim with Whales. Join us and experience the beauty and grace of these majestic mammals within the sheltered waters that Vava'u has to offer. Humpback whales migrate from their feeding grounds in Antarctica to the warm waters of Tonga to mate and give birth. They begin to arrive in June/July and calves are born between July and September. As well as having calves; single male whales compete for the attention of a female. Listen to the trumpet blows and witness the mighty displays of breaching, spy hopping, tail slapping and pectoral fin shows in the battle to mate for the following season. Put your head underwater and hear, see and feel the song of the male humpback whale as he fills the ocean with notes, clicks, grunts and whistles to attract a female and warn off smaller males. |
As a member of the Vava'u Whale Watching Operators Association we comply with the regulations of the Kingdom of Tonga when interacting with the whales.
This means that only 4 guests and 1 guide may enter the water with the whales at any one time. This of course only enhances your experience with these beautiful creatures. MV Kalo provides a stable platform for the keen photographer to capture the boisterous play of the calves and the brilliant courtship displays of the adults. Our vessel is equipped with all safety equipment and has a bathroom on board. MV Whalesong offers snorkeling trips which can incorporate a BBQ lunch enjoyed on a deserted beach. She is 12m long and has a drop down ramp for easy access to and from the water. There are many beautiful sites to explore, including caves that can only be accessed from the water. TONGA CLIMATE Perfect all year round ! The Vava'u climate ranges from 22 to 30 C from December through to March and 20 to 28 C from April to November. |
